The U.S. Navy has commissioned its first large robotic submarine, the Orca

Orca’s small size makes it undetectable, which will make it possible to track enemy ships in its field of vision, stealthily approach enemy coastal facilities and conduct electronic reconnaissance.

The submarine will not be hindered even by a lack of communication with GPS satellites. In this case, Orca will surface and report its location to overflying warplanes and cruise missiles. The submarine can also be used in search and rescue operations.
