The star of the yet-to-be-released movie “Gladiator 2” Paul Mescal will indeed play a young William Shakespeare in a drama called “Hamlet”, which is going to be filmed by the Academy Award winner Chloe Zhao.
The project is an adaptation of the 2020 novel of the same name by writer Maggie O`Farrell. It tells about the wife of the famous English playwright, who in the book is called Agnes (in real life Anne Hathaway), who has to put up with the success of her husband William Shakespeare in the theater and the sudden death of their son. “Chernobyl” series star Jessie Buckley is expected to play William Shakespeare’s wife.
“The book is just amazing. I can’t wait until we can get to work,” Paul Mescal said in a recent interview. – If I had told a younger version of myself that I would have a role like this already this year, I wouldn’t have believed it myself”. No premiere date for “Hamlet” has been announced.
