Western movie critics trashed the action movie “Argyle” directed by Matthew Vaughn, in which one of the main roles played by British actor Henry Cavill. After seven dozen reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, the rating of the movie “Argyle” fell to 37 percent, meaning it became “rotten”.
“The movie is disappointing in that it misses most of its opportunities and piles on the double and triple entendres of the banal world of espionage,” according to Brian Truitt of USA Today.
“Everywhere you look, there are details to be added, plot holes to be filled, and jokes to be improved,” notes the BBC’s Nicholas Barber.
“By the time the flashback after the credits tries to surprise by contextualizing everything that’s been shown before, the picture irreparably tangles itself up,” writes Variety’s Peter Debruge.
